Size and Fit Guide

Less Common clothes are designed for a tailored fit. They are made out of non-stretch fabrics, so accurate measurements are very important. Don't worry if you don't fit exactly into the size chart, every garment can be customised to your proportions. If you aren't confident to take your own measurements, you can get in touch to do a zoom fitting, or if you are in Melbourne, come to the studio for a free in-person fitting.

Taking measurements

To take your measurements you will need a soft measuring tape, a mirror, and a chair. Take measurements in your undergarments or leggings for precision.

Bust

Your bust is the measurement around the fullest part of your chest. Stand in front of a mirror to make sure the tape measure is level and parallel to the floor. Hold the measuring tape taut but make sure it is not digging in anywhere.

Waist

Your waist is measured around your torso close to your belly button (probably slightly above belly button level). Feel your side for the squishy spot above your pelvic bone. Make sure the tape measure is parallel to the floor. For this measurement don't squeeze too tight: you should be able to fit one or two fingers inside the measuring tape. Check this measurement standing and seated. If it is more than 5cm (2") bigger when seated use the seated measurement.

Hip

Your hip is the widest part around your bum. Normally this is close to crotch level, but depending on your shape it could be closer to your waist. Find it by standing both facing and sideways to your mirror and look for where your bum and hips are widest. Be sure the measuring tape is parallel to the floor. You should also take this measurement seated. If the seated measurement is more than 5cm (2") larger than standing, choose your size based on the seated measurement.

Thigh

Your thigh measurement is taken at the top of your thigh. This measurement should also be taken seated, choose your size based on the seated measurement.
